What Not to Wear

As you may have heard, What Not to Wear has taped and is on it's last season.

For some reason the other night I was watching it and it really struck me how cool of a concept it really is.

Most women who are on the show have lost sight of how important it is to take care of yourself and how much more confident you will be when you do. What Not to Wear isn't just Stacy and Clinton making snarky remarks about all of the Rugged Wear house wearers - it's a week where women are forced to find good qualities about themselves in clothes, hair, and makeup and play to their strengths. And the happiness in the contestants face when they are showing Stacy and Clinton the final look brings tears to my eyes.

I find it rather empowering.

On top of that, Nick Arrojo is my dream haircut and I would probably faint if I ever had the opportunity to have a makeover from Carmindy. And meeting Stacy or Clinton wouldn't suck either. (well, depending on the circumstance)

So goodbye to an amazing show! And thanks for helping women realize their importance and raising their confidence all of the sake of the general public who have to look at them every day.

That's not that much cheese.

I know you don't watch 30 Rock, but this guy has got to be one of the greatest characters ever.

and this...

I want to meet him.

also, a day in the life of Raisin:

Put it on my tab...

Well it's been what feels like eternity here in Auburn. Lots of good and lots of "really? this is really happening to me?"

One of the main poo-poo parts of my life has been my two parking tickets. Parking if you live on campus is an absolute nightmare. It is, dare I say, worse than Wittel. If I could just combine my favorite things about both living spaces, I'd be rather content! I just saw that stupid white paper with a fat ole AU at the top on Lars's sweet windshield and could only think...put it on my tab.

In other news, tomorrow is the beginning of my WGI/DCI career! I'm going to a clinic for Paramount which is a rather fancy Winter Guard out of Atlanta! Hopefully the clinic will give me a better idea of what I'm getting into.

Here is one of my favorite shots of AUMB band camp

In music news - I am going to see the following bands soon: Head and the Heart (Nashville), Local Natives (Birmingham), City and Colour (Atlanta), and Motion City Soundtrack & Reliant K(Birmingham)! I'm rather excited!

Here come a lot of words because pictures aren't loading. Put it on my tab.

It should also be noted that our Chicago trip has been changed to Washington DC because we have a Glisson friend who lives there and is letting us stay with her for free!

Also, if my schedule remains open, I'm planning on coming home the weekend of the UGA/App State game! I just may need a little home fix/Charlie fix/ concert fix/ Cine fix/ Sanford Stadium fix!

Hmm... other things to say that aren't horribly boring. Our marching show is pretty cool! 007 a James Bond show! The music is really good and if we can get it all practiced a little more, I think it'll be really great! Are you coming to any games this year? I hope you are! I love when you visit even though I'm a little boring in the fall. It'll be better visiting me this year in the Village though (10 points for Village!)

They just opened a brand new rec center and I'm really going to take advantage this week by taking several yoga and cycling classes (to really get the bang from my tuition buck.) Hopefully some of them will be cool enough to stick with and then I can be super buff. Just kidding. Mostly.

Another thing I miss about Wittel is having a sink next to my bed and killer water pressure.

Another thing I really love about the Village is having my own room and a freezer.

I saw Jobs the other night with Philip as a part of our "hey, man. way to get through day 1 of classes" date. It was good. real real good. go see it.

You don't have to read this anymore.

Am I babbling? Probably. Ok. So many thoughts I just had to spill. I'll write more composed things regularly again now that I'm back to school.

Philip is making fun of me for complaining about my blog post pictures not working at a Starbucks which is where I had to go to get any internet. (-10 points from Village)

Go Ben!

So Ben has traveled a good bit by himself to where he knows the tricks on how to save money and one of those ways is by staying in a Hostel.

Because of Gilmore Girls, I had it in my head that Hostels were a bunch of cheap people sleeping on benches and that kind of grossed me out.

But! Quite the contrary - hostels are only for out of town guests (so they don't turn into a big ole homeless shelter), they are actually pretty nice, and we are staying in the safest hostel in Chicago!

Here are some pictures of where I'll be staying! Right in the middle of the city in a safe part of town! Safe, fun, clean, Chicago! Life can't get any better than that!

I'm also on the lookout for things I want to do in Chicago. Both times I've been have been with a group, so I've had to just sit back and let others do the planning (which can be a fun adventure all on its own!) The one thing I am positive I am going to do is eat Giordano's pizza!

I'm also going to check Joanna Goddard's post about their trip to Chicago. I remember her writing a post about it and I have a feeling that we have the same taste in things!

I want to do things that aren't too touristy and aren't too that too much to ask? Even if we just walk around for four days I think it'll be a blast!

What are things that you think we should do in Chicago? If you could go anywhere in the country where would you go?

Tradition v. Change

For some reason, I've got it in my head that I only want to wear the classic black, soft pink, and heather grey to dance in. It's just a really classic image I have of what a dancer should look like. There are so many beautiful classic pieces that match this image, but I also like some of these wilder dance garments...what do you think?

and the more alternative...

Also, I love this picture..

Scrapbook Adventures!

Have you ever sat down and looked through your scrapbooks? I mean really looked through them and appreciated the little things and details about your life thus far? I love looking at the pictures and wonderful decorations in our photo albums that mom made. Here are some highlights from my adventure down memory lane in scrapbook 1...

meeting Patrick!

I especially love the pictures of Patrick and I! They are so cute, we're like little buddies :)
