Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker

Today in Advanced Dance we learned about this famous choreographer named Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. She was born in Belgium and has done some pretty amazing things with contemporary choreography...and she happens to have been the inspiration behind one of the best Beyoncé music videos ever.

This side by side video shows Beyoncé (duh) and the choreography that inspired it. Beyoncé amazes me more and more everyday - referencing a contemporary choreographer just makes Bey even better.

Go Beyoncé! Go Anne Teresa!

Busy Sunday?

Hello Hello Hello

I would apologize for not blogging in a while, but I think we're both guilty of not keeping up to date here. (so blog something because I miss reading your posts!)

My most recent news is that my Opelika girls got a 1 at competition! The majorettes, kickline, drum majors, percussion, and band also got 1s for an overall score of 1! My girls also were 3rd over the entire competition with a score of 90! I was proud because our show is REALLY hard - hard choreography, hard charts, and just a hard show. Of course first at competition would've been cool, but there's always winterguard!

I am busily making my spring schedule recently and one of my favorite things about it is that Sunday afternoons - I will have the option of staying in Atlanta to visit friends and cousins or come to Athens and have dinner with you guys or drive back to Auburn for KKPsi chapter & events! I think it'll be fun to have a different Sunday plan each week to keep things interesting and it's going to mean that I have a time when I can come home, snuggle with Charlie, and say hello to ole Summit Oaks!

Of course, Paramount practices have started and will be more frequent as we get closer to January. At my first practice, I was too tired to really enjoy what was going on, but something about the last practice we had really had me excited. I was originally supposed to leave early to make it back for chapter, but I was having so much fun, I stayed the whole time. I'm certainly not the best, but the staff makes me feel like I can do it. And, that positive energy from the staff and other cast members makes me feel encouraged and I catch on more quickly than being frustrated. I am just so grateful that I get to spin with Paramount that I can't help but be unexplainably happy during practice. Yay!

We have our first overnight this coming weekend (saturday and sunday) and I'm hoping to come to Athens and see y'all (if you're free) and Ashley! I haven't seen Ashley in over 4 months which is absolutely insane.

Is this what you envisioned, too? This is what I always imagined it looked like - and it looks like a big fun band geek sleepover to me!

School-wise, I am starting week 9 of my last semester of Junior Year today! Next week is the last full week of October (can you believe it?) and then it'll be time for KKPsi Joint Ceremony, OHS Winter Guard to kickoff, more Paramount practices, the GA/AU game, Thanksgiving break, and... my Cadets tryout! Yikes! (and yay!)

What have you been up to lately?

p.s. Christmas list coming in a few weeks - only 10 weeks til Christmas!

Busy Bee.

Things have been soooo busy. It's all good, it's just hard to stay on top of things when I don't have a real routine. Just craziness!

Here's a song to get us through!

I'm a Mountie!

I can officially say that I am joining the Paramount cast for the 2015 Winterguard season!!!! I'm SO unbelievably excited and I can't wait to get started this weekend!

I've worked out (I hope) how this is going to go down financially, so I'm saying yes and hopefully will be saying yes to a drum corps in November!

Just an update on the drum corps situation - I am going to tryout for Cadets as planned, but if I don't make Cadets - I'll be traveling to Orlando, FL to tryout for the Boston Crusaders! I just have to give this thing a real shot, ya know!

I can't believe this is all happening, but boy am I glad!

This is a link to the Paramount website, if you'd like to learn more!

Days 30 & 31.

Yesterday I started going to a small group that is a part of Church of the Highlands. I went a few Sundays ago, and while I feel that it isn't quite my thing - I really liked a lot of things about the church from the way they use scripture down to how they do business. So, I decided to just jump into a small group and I like it even though I've only been one week! I got so much out of just the first lesson which is online - you should check it out here if you have a little time. I highly recommend it!

Days 28 & 29.

I am so encouraged by the clinic! I have still not made an official decision about trying out for Paramount with the intent on marching with them, but I feel like I can do this!

I also read this verse on the morning of the clinic - "No one should be shaken by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we are appointed to this."

It was also great to see Ramon and Zach, of course! And since we were already in Midtown...you guessed it - we went to Jeni's!

We looked funny (and smelled funny) walking into Jeni's in our audition getups.

Fun day!

Days 26 & 27.

I meant to blog last night, but the game was a little crazy. All of Friday was crazy - it left me in a weird funk. But mostly, tomorrow is the Paramount Clinic. I can't believe it's already here. I'm nervous, excited, anxious, ready, not ready all in one. I'm just going to go in with an open mind surrounded by good people and a sound mind so that if nothing else - I get to do what I love tomorrow - spin! I'm mostly nervous that I'll get discouraged and that it will set a bad precedent for the Cadets tryout. I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!

Wish me luck!

Days 24 & 25.

I hate the font and style of the quote of these two days, but I love this quote.

A lot of me has been thinking that if I want a real shot at this, I should shoot lower. But I have absolutely fallen in love with Cadets -so why not go big? It might be a flop, but it'll be an interesting flop.

In other news - I've been watching  A TON of Gilmore Girls lately with Jamie! 908 is fun, I'm loving it and this year more than I have the other semesters. (thank goodness)

Two days left of this week!
