The art of relaxation.

I've found three things that cure my stress! Finals are crazy horrible, but I've managed to keep my head (mostly) level thanks to these three things!

1. I found a place to practice violin!!!

my humble studio :)

this way out!

I've been climbing out my window to my fire escape (I guess there is a perk to my basement room!) The natural light from the window/ceiling and the Christmas lights are a perfect place for me to practice! Then I just tape my music to the window facing my room and play play play!

2. Visit the humane society and hold some puppies!

Erik with Julie, Brady with Miracle, and me with my boy Charlie!

Charlie and me :)

Me with Miracle and Philip with Charlie!

Brady, Trent, Philip, Erik, Rachel and I went to the Humane Society yesterday to play with the puppies! I immediately fell in love with the first one that I picked up named Arwen! I was thinking how much I hoped she would get a home when lo and behold, a woman walked in and pointed at Arwen sleeping in my arms and said that Arwen was going home with her that same day!!! Yay! Also, this really tiny dog named Julie fell in love with Philip who, even though he doesn't like small dogs, was crazy about! The last dog who was my favorite was a lab mix puppy named Charlie. Philip also fell in love with Charlie...and since Philip is buying a dog next year, maybe we will get to go back to the humane society for one!

3. and, Nature!

maybe a little man made?

boy's a natural!

sweet Rachel!

After we went to the humane society, we went to Chewacla which is a park! Even though some of it was really man-made, I appreciated the attempt and it was good to just get outside!

aslo, as a bonus, I'm going to say that most of my stress relief comes from just being with my new group of friends :)

Trent, Erik, Heidi, me, Rachel, Catherine and Brady!

Can't wait to see you tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's go to the movies!

So today I got all excited about Oscar nominations coming out!!! As usual, I'm going to try and see all of the nominees for best picture and as many of the other nominees as possible.

According to predictions, the movies that will most likely make best picture are Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook. So yeah!

So then of course I get to looking into movies I want to see when I come home (at Cinè of course!- maybe this one?) and I come across rumors of more superhero movies.

this is the one I want to see at Cinè...not an undercover superhero movie

I have to admit, there have been some really great superhero movies lately.

It seems that DC comics is going to do a movie sort of like the Avengers (which is Marvel) called Justice League including characters such as Batman, The Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Superman (among others). It is set to come out in 2015.

Naturally, there are going to be a whole bunch of other movies leading up to Justice League starting with Superman. The new Superman movie, set to come out summer 2013, is called Man of Steel. It seems to have a pretty good cast, so that'll be interesting! I really don't know much about Superman.

So next I looked into Wonder Woman, are we finally getting a woman superhero movie? I mean, the little girls in the world deserve a hero as much as the boys! (not to be one of those people...) There are all sorts of rumors about who would play a good Wonder Woman. Do you have any good ideas? I really couldn't come up with one...

Lastly, I came across this website that has several interesting lists involving TV and film. My favorite was about shows that got cancelled too early. Some of them seem really good! So maybe we can watch some over break (that list of things to do over break is getting really long).

and on a TV note, the guy who plays Spencer on iCarly (who I said Philip reminds me of) has a new show coming out! It seems to be essentially iCarly but a boy instead of iCarly. Turns out Philip is an iCarly fan! hehehe

ok, and now this has nothing to do with the Oscars. or even movies. I might be the worst blog writer ever.

Can't get enough!

I know I'm not the easiest person to shop for... even though  I gave you two very detailed lists - sometimes it can be hard to find the perfect thing for someone so picky like me! So I have attached some no-fail options that will be true for years to come as well!

1.) Giftcards

I LOVE giftcards. You are giving me the gift of free shopping and the gift of choice. What a beauty to open a card with a gift card in it or a package with a gift card in it! Seriously can't go wrong with these. Here are some places I love to be gift carded (both shops and restaurants)

-Modcloth
-Target
-Barnes & Noble
-Anthropologie
-Old Navy
-Gap
-Nike
-Academy Sports
-Bed, Bath & Beyond
-Bath & Body Works
-Victoria's Secret
-Amazon
-WalMart
-CVS
-Vera Bradley
-Momma G's
-Chick-fil-a
-Starbucks
-iTunes
-the movie theatre!
-basically any restaurant!
also, if there is such a thing as an Etsy gift card - it would be rather rad.

Let's face it, if you give me a giftcard there, I can find something I'm going to like.

2.) Striped socks from Gap

Just something about 'em. Also, they aren't really online, but if you go in the store, they have a good selection. If you go to Gap and get me socks, I will love you forever.

3.) Scarves!

Crazy scarves, fancy scarves, striped scarves, patterned scarves, solid scarves, infinity scarves, long scarves, short scarves.

4.) Fragrances

Good smelling things! Because who doesn't want to smell like fruit all of the time?

5.) Crazy coats

Looking for something a little nicer that I'll still love? Coats are great! Medium please!

6.) Flowers!

Not a long-lasting gift, but a gift I always love and are certainly beautiful when I get them!

7.) Doughnuts!

A dozen original glazed from Krispie Kreme is a great way to say Merry Christmas!

8.) The gift of music!

Give me all of the sounds! A mix CD of things you like, things you think I'll like, a new CD, an old CD, just music! I can't get enough! and I love to hear new things!

9.) A gift with a cause!

I love these companies like TOMS, Billiamjeans, and Punjammies who serve someone else or help a cause when you buy their product.

10.) Lastly, bake me something!

This is a really good option because I LOVE food and if I don't like it, I can throw it away later without feeling too bad. Also, it isn't awkward to open up a pan of brownies and hope that I like them, it's just awesome. and I love any gift that doesn't take up space for too long. (taking up space is the reason I really don't like a lot of "thing" kind of gifts)

and if you package it beautifully, I probably won't care what's inside!

Still not convinced? Check my board of more things that I'd like on my pinterest page :)
